Why I don't ship for free anymore

You read that right. Orders are no longer shipped for free. Free shipping was valid for orders from € 65.00 (within NL), but I'm cutting myself in the fingers, that's why I don't do it anymore.

I don't have to justify myself, but I do want to explain. Just. Because I think it's the most normal thing to be honest.

Why?

Shipping costs, we cannot escape that when shopping online. Every order has to be shipped and for a long time I have paid a very large part of the shipping costs myself and not included in the price of the goodies. That's right, because that's what most large companies do; passing on a surcharge in the sales price. For example, they can offer free shipping, because that shipping cost is included in the price of the product. Smart.

But this state of affairs is not for me; I want to be transparent about this. So I will not increase my prices to compensate for the shipping costs, but choose to charge one flat rate for shipping costs and no longer offer free shipping.

Mathematics

By the way, did you know that if you pay €5.95 for shipping costs, I have to pay 21% VAT to the tax authorities? That means I receive €4.92 in shipping costs to cover the shipping costs. This doesn't cover everything, but I think it's a nice middle ground.

My motto is: happy customers, happy me! But of course it applies the same way the other way around. This way we both contribute to the shipping costs and that makes me happy.
